LAKE SEBU – The Summer Capital of Southern Philippines

The highest falls among the the known Seven Falls in Lake Sebu

a two hours boat ride for free given to those customers from different resorts who wanted to experience the water surrounding the Lake Sebu which is the biggest lake among the three lakes.

 
It was located 39 Kilometers away from Koronadal, the capital city of the province of South Cotabato. This beautiful town inhabited by a Tagabili tribe and other ethnic groups who migrated in this part of Mindanao even before Christ accordingly and believed to be a pure Malayan. Lake Sebu managed to remain autonomous despite of the coming of Spaniards, Japanese and the American because of geographical barriers, lack of transportation and communication systems. Under the administration of the late President Manuel L. Quezon, the Central part of Mindanao has been declared a site for settlements project for the people from Central and Northern Philippines. In 1938 the first batch of settlers had come led by General Paulino Santos and settled areas from the Buayan town now booming city of General Santos and as far as upper valley. When Lake Sebu was place one of political geographical unit of Banga, Mr. Samuel Udan was recognized as Barrio Lieutenant, then Datu Balicucos Abdul a Muslim from Kiamba who married a T’boli lady was appointed head of the Barangay by then Mayor Improgo of Banga in 1956 to 1957. Barangay  Lake Sebu was then created and declared a municipality last November 11, 1982 under the province of South Cotabato.
